The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Extensions for XML implementation in Opera before 11.01 recognizes links to javascript: URLs in the -o-link property, which makes it easier for remote attackers to bypass CSS filtering via a crafted URL.
The weakness was presented 01/27/2011 (Website). The advisory is available at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-0681. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 75694 (openSUSE Security Update : opera (openSUSE-SU-2011:0103-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165185 (SUSE Security Update for Multiple Packages (SUSE-SR:2011:003)).
Upgrading to version 7.20 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
