A vulnerability was found in Adobe ColdFusion 8.0/8.0.1/9.0/9.0.1 (Programming Language Software). It has been rated as problematic. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the administrator console in Adobe ColdFusion 8.0 through 9.0.1 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was shared 02/10/2011 by Tenable Network Security (McAfee) with Tenable Network Security (Website). The advisory is shared at adobe.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-0580 since 01/20/2011. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:login.cfm it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 51955 (Adobe ColdFusion login.cfm Query String XSS (APSB11-04)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses : XSS. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12488 (Adobe ColdFusion Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB11-04)).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
