The weakness was disclosed 07/11/2012 by miaubiz as Stable Channel Update as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is available at googlechromereleases.blogspot.ch. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-2842 since 05/19/2012. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
