CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in PEAR up to 1.2.0. This issue affects an unknown function of the component Installer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a link following vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-59. The product attempts to access a file based on the filename, but it does not properly prevent that filename from identifying a link or shortcut that resolves to an unintended resource. Impacted is integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

The installer in PEAR before 1.9.2 allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the package.xml file, related to the (1) download_dir, (2) cache_dir, (3) tmp_dir, and (4) pear-build-download directories, a different vulnerability than CVE-2007-2519.

The weakness was presented 03/02/2011 (Website). The advisory is shared at svn.php.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-1072. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 74580 (openSUSE Security Update : php5 (openSUSE-SU-2012:0426-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks.

Upgrading to version 1.2.1 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (65721) and Tenable (74580). See 56888 for similar entry.
