A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Simon Pamies PyWebDAV up to 0.9.4. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the component WebDAV. The manipulation of the argument pw
with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in the get_userinfo method in the MySQLAuthHandler class in DAVServer/mysqlauth.py in PyWebDAV before 0.9.4.1 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) user or (2) pw argument. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was disclosed 03/14/2011 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at pywebdav.googlecode.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-0432 since 01/12/2011. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 52604 (Fedora 13 : pywebdav-0.9.4.1-1.fc13 (2011-2470)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86941 (PyWebDAV MySQL Authentication SQL Injection Vulnerability).
Upgrading to version 0.8 eliminates this vulnerability.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (65871) and Tenable (52604).
