The WrapNISUM ActiveX component (WrapUM.dll) in Norton Internet Security 2004 is marked safe for scripting, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary programs via the LaunchURL method.

The bug was discovered 03/04/2004. The weakness was shared 03/18/2004 by Mark Litchfield with NGSSoftware (Website). The advisory is shared at nextgenss.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-0364 since 03/19/2004. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1499 for this issue.
