Multiple integer overflows in the HMI application in DATAC RealFlex RealWin 2.1 (Build 6.1.10.10) and earlier allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted (1) On_FC_MISC_FCS_MSGBROADCAST and (2) On_FC_MISC_FCS_MSGSEND packets, which trigger a heap-based buffer overflow.
The weakness was released 04/05/2011 by Luigi Auriemma (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-1564. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 10/21/2021).
A public exploit has been developed by Luigi Auriemma and been published before and not just after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 14 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
