Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in feedparser.py in Universal Feed Parser (aka feedparser or python-feedparser) before 5.0 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via vectors involving nested CDATA stanzas.

The weakness was published 04/11/2011 as Bug 684877 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-5065. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

The exploit is shared for download at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 75719 (openSUSE Security Update : python-feedparser (openSUSE-SU-2011:0314-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
