The manipulation of the argument ip with the input value 1 union select 'TYPE=TRIGGERNAME' into outfile '/var/lib/mysql/spywall_db/ins_trig.TRN' LINES TERMINATED BY '\ntrigger_table=eventlog\n';-- leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in the management console in Symantec Web Gateway 5.0.x before 5.0.3.18 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via unspecified vectors.

The weakness was disclosed 07/20/2012 by muts with Offensive Security as SYM12-011 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at symantec.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-2961 since 05/30/2012. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
