Buffer overflow in Siemens 45 series mobile phones allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (disconnect and unavailable inbox) via a Short Message Service (SMS) message with a long image name.

The weakness was presented 05/06/2003 by subj as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. The vendor was not involved in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-1464 since 10/24/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
