Apple Safari before 6.0 does not properly handle the autocomplete attribute of a password input element, which allows remote attackers to bypass authentication by leveraging an unattended workstation.
The weakness was published 07/25/2012 by Dan Poltawski with Moodle as HT5400 as confirmed knowledge base article (Apple Security Announce). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-0680 since 01/12/2012. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
