CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability has been found in Novell GroupWise 8.0 (Groupware Software) and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects the function NgwiCalVTimeZoneBody::ParseSelf in the library gwwww1.dll of the component GroupWise Internet Agent. The manipulation of the argument TZNAME with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Heap-based buffer overflow in the NgwiCalVTimeZoneBody::ParseSelf function in gwwww1.dll in GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA) in Novell GroupWise 8.0 before HP3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted TZNAME variable in a VCALENDAR attachment in an e-mail message, related to an "integer truncation error."

The weakness was published 10/07/2011 by Carsten Eiram with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is shared for download at labs.idefense.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-0333. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 11/23/2021). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product decreasing in the near future.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 56634 (GroupWise Internet Agent < 8.0.2 HP3 iCalendar TZNAME Property Heap Overflow), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SMTP problems.

Upgrading to version 8.0 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (70055) and Tenable (56634). Similar entry is available at 58903.
