The SMB File Server component in Apple Mac OS X 10.7 before 10.7.2 does not prevent all guest users from accessing the share point record of a guest-restricted folder, which allows remote attackers to bypass intended browsing restrictions by leveraging access to the nobody account.

The weakness was presented 10/14/2011 by Erling Ellingsen with Facebook (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-3225 since 08/19/2011. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
