The weakness was released 08/14/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind (Adobe) with Google Security Team as APSB12-16 as not defined bulletin (Website). The advisory is available at adobe.com. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-4154 since 08/07/2012. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 61561 (Adobe Acrobat < 10.1.4 / 9.5.2 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-16)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
