The weakness was shared 08/14/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk and Gynvael Coldwind (Adobe) with Google Security Team as APSB12-16 as not defined bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared at adobe.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-4157 since 08/07/2012. The exploitation is known to be difficult. Access to the local network is required for this attack. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 9.5.2 or 10.1.4 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at get.adobe.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 27640.
