The par_mktmpdir function in the PAR module before 1.003 for Perl creates temporary files in a directory with a predictable name without verifying ownership and permissions of this directory, which allows local users to overwrite files when another user extracts a PAR packed program, a different vulnerability in a different package than CVE-2011-4114.

The weakness was disclosed 01/13/2012 as Bug 753955 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-5060 since 01/13/2012. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
