The weakness was presented 08/21/2012 by Honggang Ren with Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs as APSB12-19 as confirmed bulletin (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at adobe.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Adobe. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-4165 since 08/07/2012. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 61624 (Adobe AIR 3.x <= 3.3.0.3670 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-19)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 120441 (Red Hat Update for flash-plugin (RHSA-2012:1203)).

Upgrading to version 11.4.402.265(Windows, Mac) or 11.2.202.238(Linux) eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at get.adobe.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
