A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Umich libgssglue 0.1/0.2/0.3. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component Configuration File. libgssapi and libgssglue before 0.4 do not properly check privileges, which allows local users to load untrusted configuration files and execute arbitrary code via the GSSAPI_MECH_CONF environment variable, as demonstrated using mount.nfs.

The weakness was shared 06/21/2012 with SuSE (Website). The advisory is shared at citi.umich.edu. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-2709 since 07/11/2011. The exploitation is known to be difficult. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
