comment/lib.php in Moodle 2.0.x before 2.0.4 and 2.1.x before 2.1.1 does not properly restrict comment capabilities, which allows remote attackers to post a comment by leveraging the guest role and operating on a front-page activity.

The weakness was published 07/16/2012 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared at git.moodle.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2011-4297 since 11/04/2011. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
