The weakness was published 09/12/2012 by Martin Barbella (Skylined) with Google Chrome Security Team as APPLE-SA-2012-09-12-1 as confirmed posting (Website). The advisory is available at lists.apple.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-3643 since 06/19/2012. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The flaw has been found by using the open-source tool AddressSanitizer.
