ping.php on the Sinapsi eSolar Light Photovoltaic System Monitor (aka Schneider Electric Ezylog photovoltaic SCADA management server), Sinapsi eSolar, and Sinapsi eSolar DUO with firmware before 2.0.2870_2.2.12 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in the ip_dominio parameter.

The weakness was disclosed 11/23/2012 (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-5863 since 11/14/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:ping.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability.
