Integer overflow in the dissect_iscsi_pdu function in epan/dissectors/packet-iscsi.c in the iSCSI dissector in Wireshark 1.6.x before 1.6.12 and 1.8.x before 1.8.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a malformed packet.

The weakness was disclosed 12/05/2012 with Wireshark as Bug 7858 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugs.wireshark.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-6060 since 11/29/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 71268 (Amazon Linux AMI : wireshark (ALAS-2013-251)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Amazon Linux Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 350493 (Amazon Linux Security Advisory for wireshark: ALAS-2013-251).

Upgrading to version 1.6.6 eliminates this vulnerability.
