TYPO3 prior 6.0 Extbase Framework sql injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in TYPO3 (Content Management System). Affected is some unknown processing of the component Extbase Framework. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

SQL injection vulnerability in the Extbase Framework in TYPO3 4.5.x before 4.5.24, 4.6.x before 4.6.17, 4.7.x before 4.7.9, and 6.0.x before 6.0.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via unspecified vectors, related to "the Query Object Model and relation values."

The weakness was shared 03/20/2013 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2013-1842. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 74935 (openSUSE Security Update : typo3-cms-4_5/typo3-cms-4_6/typo3-cms-4_7 (openSUSE-SU-2013:0510-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165894 (SUSE Security Update for typo3-cms-4_5/typo3-cms-4_6/typo3-cms-4_7 (openSUSE-SU-2013:0510-1)).

Upgrading to version 6.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
