ajax.functions.php in the MailUp plugin before 1.3.3 for WordPress does not properly restrict access to unspecified Ajax functions, which allows remote attackers to modify plugin settings and conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks by setting the wordpress_logged_in cookie. NOTE: this is due to an incomplete fix for a similar issue that was fixed in 1.3.2.

The weakness was shared 03/22/2013 by Charlie Eriksen (Website). The advisory is shared at plugins.trac.wordpress.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-0731 since 01/02/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
