Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security Suite 7.1-Build_Win32_1394 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the wrsApprovedURL parameter to addRuleAttrWrsApproveUrl.imss or (2) the src parameter to initUpdSchPage.imss.

The weakness was disclosed 09/13/2012 by Tom Gregory as VU#471364 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. The vendor was not involved in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-2995 since 05/30/2012. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

A public exploit has been developed by modpr0be and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at kb.cert.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 34 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
