Directory traversal vulnerability on the HOT HOTBOX router with software 2.1.11 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in a URI, as demonstrated by a request for /etc/passwd.
The weakness was shared 12/29/2013 (Website). The advisory is shared at youtube.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-5219 since 08/15/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be initiated within the local network. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
