Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the default markup formatter in CloudBees Jenkins 1.523 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the Description field in the user configuration.

The weakness was presented 12/31/2013 (Website). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-5573 since 08/23/2013. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
