The weakness was presented 10/08/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk, Gynvael Coldwind and Fermin Serna with Google Security Team as APSB12-22 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at adobe.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-5263 since 10/04/2012. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 04/14/2021). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product decreasing in the near future.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 62479 (Adobe AIR 3.x <= 3.4.0.2540 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-22)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. Upgrading to version 11.4.402.287 or 10.3.183.29 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at adobe.com. The problem might be mitigated by replacing the product with Microsoft Silverlight, Java or Javascript as an alternative. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
