Adobe PhoneGap before 2.6.0 on Android uses the shouldOverrideUrlLoading callback instead of the proper shouldInterceptRequest callback, which allows remote attackers to bypass intended device-resource restrictions via content that is accessed (1) in an IFRAME element or (2) with the XMLHttpRequest method by a crafted application.

The weakness was disclosed 03/02/2014 as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-1883 since 02/07/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 2.5.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
