Buffer overflow in the Cisco WebEx Recording Format (WRF) player T27 before LD SP32 EP10 and T28 before T28.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted WRF file, aka Bug ID CSCtz72967.

The weakness was disclosed 10/10/2012 by Core Security (Codenomicon) with Beyond Security/Core Security/Codenomicon/TELUS Security Labs Vulnerability Research Team as cisco-sa-20121010-webex as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at tools.cisco.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-3937 since 07/10/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 62710 (Cisco WebEx WRF Player Multiple Buffer Overflows (cisco-sa-20121010-webex)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows.

Upgrading to version 28.4 or 27.32.10 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at webex.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
