CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.4/11.1.1.6/11.1.2.0 (Middleware). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function PARSEQUERY of the file reports/rwservlet/parsequery of the component Reports Developer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cleartext storage vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-312. The product stores sensitive information in cleartext within a resource that might be accessible to another control sphere. Impacted is confidentiality, and integrity. The summary by CVE is:

Unspecified vulnerability in the Oracle Reports Developer component in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.4, 11.1.1.6, and 11.1.2.0 allows remote attackers to affect confidentiality and integrity via unknown vectors related to Servlet. NOTE: the previous information is from the October 2012 CPU. Oracle has not commented on claims from the original researcher that the PARSEQUERY function allows remote attackers to obtain database credentials via reports/rwservlet/parsequery, and that this issue occurs in earlier versions. NOTE: this can be leveraged with CVE-2012-3152 to execute arbitrary code by uploading a .jsp file.

The bug was discovered 10/17/2012. The weakness was published 10/16/2012 with Oracle as cpuoct2012-1515893 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at oracle.com. The public release has been coordinated with Oracle. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-3153 since 06/06/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1555 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

A public exploit has been developed in Ruby. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as functional. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 73120 (Oracle Reports Servlet Parsequery Function Remote Database Credentials Exposure), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses and running in the context r. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12836 (Oracle Forms and Reports Two Vulnerabilities).

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 3658.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (79296), Tenable (73120) and Exploit-DB (31253). darkreading.com is providing further details. Similar entries are available at 6718, 6719, 6788 and 6696.
