The advisory is shared for download at btsc.webapps.blackberry.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-1470 since 01/15/2014. The attack needs to be done within the local network. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

It is possible to mitigate the problem by applying the configuration setting Access using Wi-Fi = Off
. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. The knowledge base article contains the following remark:
This issue is mitigated for all customers by the prerequisite that the attacker must persuade the customer to turn on file sharing over Wi-Fi or locate a customer on the Wi-Fi network who has file sharing over Wi-Fi turned on. File sharing over Wi-Fi is not enabled by default.
