Buffer overflow in net/ceph/auth_x.c in Ceph, as used in the Linux kernel before 3.16.3, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption and panic) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a long unencrypted auth ticket.
The issue has been introduced in 08/03/2014. The weakness was shared 09/15/2014 as confirmed mailinglist post (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-6416 since 09/15/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
