This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-4301 since 06/18/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 78540 (Oracle Database Multiple Vulnerabilities (October 2014 CPU)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Databases. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19948 (Oracle Database October 2014 Security Update Multiple Vulnerabilities (CPUOCT2014)).
