The host_from_stream_offset function in arch_init.c in QEMU, when loading RAM during migration, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted (1) offset or (2) length value in savevm data.
The weakness was shared 12/04/2014 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.debian.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-7840 since 10/03/2014. The exploitation appears to be difficult. Attacking locally is a requirement. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.qemu.org.
