Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in thumb.php in MediaWiki before 1.19.23, 1.2x before 1.22.15, 1.23.x before 1.23.8, and 1.24.x before 1.24.1 allows remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a wikitext message.
The weakness was released 12/21/2014 as confirmed mailinglist post (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-9475 since 01/03/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a exploit are known.
