A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Adobe Flash Player up to 11.4.402.278 (Multimedia Player Software). The weakness was shared 11/02/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk, Gynvael Coldwind and Fermin Serna with Google Security Team as APSB12-22 as confirmed bulletin (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at adobe.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-5286 since 10/04/2012. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 62479 (Adobe AIR 3.x <= 3.4.0.2540 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-22)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 120553 (Adobe Flash Player and AIR Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-22)).
Upgrading to version 11.4.402.287 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
