The weakness was disclosed 01/27/2015 by Takeshi Terada (cloudfuzzer) with OUSPG as HT204245 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-3192 since 05/03/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/07/2022). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future. The advisory points out:

Multiple memory corruption issues existed in WebKit. These issues were addressed through improved memory handling.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 81145 (Apple TV < 7.0.3 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Misc.. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 195644 (Ubuntu Security Notification for Oxide-qt Vulnerabilities (USN-2345-1)).

Upgrading to version 8.1.3 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
