This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-5352 since 08/19/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 83269 (Amazon Linux AMI : krb5 (ALAS-2015-518)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Amazon Linux Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 350184 (Amazon Linux Security Advisory for krb5: ALAS-2015-518).

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability.
