DokuWiki before 2014-05-05d and before 2014-09-29c does not properly check permission for the ACL plugins, which allows remote authenticated users to gain privileges and add or delete ACL rules via a request to the XMLRPC API.

The weakness was released 03/02/2015 by Basti as confirmed mailinglist post (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-2172 since 03/01/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
