The weakness was released 04/12/2014 by Andrea Micalizzi with Zero Day Initiative (Website). The advisory is shared for download at ics-cert.us-cert.gov. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-0765 since 01/02/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 122001 (Advantech WebAccess Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version 5.0 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 13268.
