Stack-based buffer overflow in Advantech WebAccess before 7.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long AccessCode argument.
The weakness was presented 04/12/2014 by Andrea Micalizzi with Zero Day Initiative (Website). The advisory is available at ics-cert.us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-0767 since 01/02/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 122001 (Advantech WebAccess Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version 5.0 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 13268.
