The GetHTMLRunDir function in the scan-build utility in Clang 3.5 and earlier allows local users to obtain sensitive information or overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on temporary directories with predictable names.

The weakness was shared 04/23/2014 by Jakub Wilk (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugs.debian.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-2893 since 04/17/2014. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
