Urbanairship python-oauth2 cryptographic issues

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Urbanairship python-oauth2 (Programming Language Software) (unknown version) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cryptographic issues vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-310. Impacted is confidentiality, and integrity. CVE summarizes:

The (1) make_nonce, (2) generate_nonce, and (3) generate_verifier functions in SimpleGeo python-oauth2 uses weak random numbers to generate nonces, which makes it easier for remote attackers to guess the nonce via a brute force attack.

The weakness was released 05/20/2014 by Salvatore Bonaccorso (Website). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-4347. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1600 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 78448 (Amazon Linux AMI : python-oauth2 (ALAS-2014-425)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Amazon Linux Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 350302 (Amazon Linux Security Advisory for python-oauth2: ALAS-2014-425).

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (78448), SecurityFocus (BID 62388†) and Vulnerability Center (SBV-46336†). Entry connected to this vulnerability is available at VDB-69745. If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
