EMC Documentum Content Server prior 6.0 os command injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in EMC Documentum Content Server (Content Management System). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

EMC Documentum Content Server before 6.7 SP1 P28, 6.7 SP2 before P14, 7.0 before P15, and 7.1 before P05 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in arguments to unspecified methods.

The weakness was disclosed 06/08/2014 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securitytracker.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-2507 since 03/14/2014. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The successful exploitation requires a authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 77633 (EMC Documentum Content Server Multiple Vulnerabilities (ESA-2014-046)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 11696 (EMC Documentum Multiple Content Server Vulnerabilities.(ESA-2014-046)).

Upgrading to version 6.0 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (93656), Tenable (77633), SecurityFocus (BID 67916†), Secunia (SA58954†) and Vulnerability Center (SBV-46801†).
