Multiple cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerabilities in the Featured Comments plugin 1.2.1 for WordPress allow remote attackers to hijack the authentication of administrators for requests that change the (1) buried or (2) featured status of a comment via a request to wp-admin/admin-ajax.php.
The weakness was presented 06/16/2014 by Tom Adams as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-4163 since 06/16/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12993 (WordPress Featured Comments Plugin Cross Site Request Forgery Vulnerability).
