A vulnerability has been found in Oracle OpenSSO up to 8.0 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the file cmp_generate_tmp_pw.tiles of the component Parameter Validator. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. The bug was discovered 10/28/2012. The weakness was published 11/28/2012 by Gjoko Krstic (LiquidWorm) with Zero Science Lab as ZSL-2012-5114 as not defined posting (Website). The advisory is shared for download at zeroscience.mk. The public release happened without coordination with the vendor. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
