A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Bitdefender GravityZone 5.1.5.386. This affects some unknown processing of the component Web Console. The manipulation of the argument id with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in Bitdefender GravityZone before 5.1.11.432 allow remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a (1) .. (dot dot) in the id parameter to webservice/CORE/downloadFullKitEpc/a/1 in the Web Console or (2) %2E%2E (encoded dot dot) in the default URI to port 7074 on the Update Server.

The weakness was released 08/19/2014 with SEC Consult Vulnerability Lab (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at sec-consult.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2014-5350 since 08/19/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
