The bug was discovered 12/11/2012. The weakness was shared 12/11/2012 by Tavis Ormandy (@taviso) with Google Security Team as 2755801 as confirmed advisory (Microsoft Technet). The advisory is shared at technet.microsoft.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-5678 since 10/29/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 63241 (Adobe AIR 3.x <= 3.5.0.600 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-27)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 166210 (SUSE Security Update for flash-player (openSUSE-SU-2013:0368-1)).

Upgrading to version 11.5.502.135 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com.
