The catalog url replacement in OpenStack Identity (Keystone) before 2013.2.3 and 2014.1 before 2014.1.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive configuration options via a crafted endpoint, as demonstrated by "$(admin_token)" in the publicurl endpoint field.
The weakness was published 10/02/2014 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-3621 since 05/14/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 80659 (Oracle Solaris Third-Party Patch Update : keystone (cve_2014_3621_information_disclosure)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Solaris Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 122747 (Solaris 11.2 Support Repository Update (SRU) 3.4.1 Missing).
Upgrading to version 2013.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
